The Devil's Marbles

Picture
The Devil's Marbles is in the Northern Territory, 114 kilometres south-east of Tennant Creek, near Wauchope.

Devil's Marbles are 4 metres high and are up to 33 metres wide. They are cracking because of the harsh weather. Scientists believe that in fifty million years The Devil's Marbles will be pebbles.

Aboriginal People have a theory that The Devil's Marbles are the Rainbow Serpent's eggs.

One Devil's Marble was moved on top of the founder of The Devil's Marbles, John Flynn. The Aborigines wanted it moved back to the Northern Territory, so they moved it.

The Devil's Marbles are significant because they are part of the Aboriginal Dreaming.
They are also significant because they were formed over millions of years.
