The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is in the Coral Sea, off the coast line  of north east Queensland.

The formation of  the Great Barrier Reef is by coral. These are tiny soft bodied polyps.

On the Great Barrier Reef tourists can swim with sea creatures such as dolphins, whales and fish. They can do scuba diving.

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the Seven Wonders of the world. It is the only living thing can been seen from space.

It is important because it is part of the natural environment and home to thousands of marine creatures. It is under protection.
